When we travel, we ignite a different part of our soul. The part that craves spontaneity, change, and wanderlust. We travel to gain a deeper understanding of who we are and how we perceive the world. There is a separate lens we must adjust our eyes to – a lens that shows understanding, compassion, and curiosity. The thought of teetering the unknown and exploring places that breathe ancient history, energy, and wisdom is a notion that makes us feel alive. 

Travelling in any capacity will enrich your life in ways you would have never expected. When we travel, it is often to find a missing piece of ourselves we didn’t know we were searching for. That is why many people find themselves drawn to very spiritual places that carry a high vibration, in hopes that it will help raise their own vibrational frequency. 

So why do certain places have higher vibrations than others? 

Specific places may have high energy vortexes that are believed to have powerful spiritual properties and are highly conducive to spiritual activities like prayer, meditation, and healing. Many spiritual vortexes bring people feelings of peace, balance, harmony, and tranquility. Some places are also said to promote personal reflection, deep insights, and bring clarity. Others can act as powerful centers of physical and emotional rejuvenation. These energy vortexes have the ability to make people feel more connected to themselves, the Earth, and the Universe. 

While there are many very well-known spiritual places and sacred sites that people flock to each year, from the Dead Sea in Israel to Machu Picchu in Peru, there are many lesser known spiritual places that may be off the beaten-path. 

Spiritual places with high energy vortexes:

1. Es Vedrà, Ibiza, Spain

Just off the coast of Ibiza lies an uninhabited limestone rock island in the Mediterranean Sea. Es Vedrà is believed to be the third most magnetic spot in the world, after the Bermuda Triangle and the North Pole. The place leaves compasses spinning and birds directionally confused. Towering more than 1300 feet above the water, legend has it that Es Vedrà is the tip of the sunken city of Atlantis. It has long been a place of pilgrimage for those who seek spiritual enlightenment. This energetic place is made of limestone that is similar to that of other sacred places like the Egyptian Pyramids, Stonehenge, and the Tulum Mayan Ruins – all powerful energy vortexes that hold immense concentrations of energy. Es Vedrà has a powerful vibration that leaves travellers inspired. Visit this place to experience feelings of deep healing and creativity, and to awaken powerful meditations. 

2. Mayan Ruins, Tulum, Mexico 

The Mayan Ruins are home to the city of Tulum, which has long been a spiritual hub and place of powerful vibrations. It is believed that the asteroid that struck Earth 66 million years ago landed in the Yucatan Peninsula, where present-day Tulum rests. During the early 13th century, Mayan people chose Tulum as the location to build sacred temples upon, as this area holds an incredible amount of energy. Being a location of an energy vortex, Tulum is spiritual by nature. Many believe that this place possesses a special kind of energy that is still present, creating a magical aura around the area. Tulum is home to yoga retreats, meditation, and healing within. It is a place of spiritual enlightenment, with its essence promoting wellness all around. 

3. Sedona, Arizona, USA

Sedona is a labyrinth of spirituality, and  home to another energy vortex. Made up of red canyons and lush forest landscapes, this place is special because there are many different locations in Sedona that offer extremely high amounts of energy. There is an abundance of wellness spas and outdoor activities to connect with nature and the energy Sedona gives off. People travel here to reflect and feel rejuvenated, as this place promotes growth, renewal, and higher-consciousness. 

4.  Ubud, Bali, Indonesia

Ubud is Bali’s spiritual and cultural heart. This mystical place has long been known for its healing powers and is a mecca for those in search of enlightenment. Steeped in enchantment and allure, Bail attracts those who wish to do some soul-searching and healing. Ubud has an abundance of serene rice paddies, lush landscapes, vegan food, and temples. It is a vivid spot for spirituality and self-discovery, drawing people in for healing, yoga, meditation, higher-consciousness, and transformation. 

5. Haleakalā Volcano, Hawaii, USA

Hawaii has a special magical aura that attracts many to see its natural wonders. There is no shortage of breathtaking views, and Haleakalā Volcano is one of them. However, there is more than meets the eye to this place. It is special because the top of the volcano matches the Schumann Resonance at 7.8 cycles per second, the same resonance of our heartbeats and the natural state of the Earth. This place holds significant spiritual meanings, and allows people to feel Maui’s nurturing energy, giving it the name “Mother Maui.” Visitors to this place are said to have heightened feelings of gratitude, peace, and clarity. 

6. Byron Bay, Australia 

Known as the spiritual healing capital of Australia, Byron Bay is traditionally a place of healing and fertility. Home to the indigenous Arakwal people, a tribe of the Bundjalung, it remains a magical and sacred site. Today Byron Bay is a destination for healing retreats, surf, and wellness. Geo-physically the land is traversed by massive veins of obsidian crystal, and it is considered to be one of the world’s energy vortexes. This place will bring you positive vibrations, challenging you to dream and creatively express yourself. 

7. Snaefellsjokull Glacier, Iceland 

Snaefellsjokull is an active volcano with a crater in the middle of a mountain under an ice cap. The last eruption occurred 1800 years ago, forming an extraordinarily diverse landscape of waterfalls, lava fields, and rock formations. The glacier carries an extreme amount of magnetic energy that attracts many people each year, as it is considered to be one of the world’s largest spiritual centers. This is a place of renewal and cleansing.  Snaefellsjokull glacier provides energy for you to deeply connect with yourself and become in-tune with what you need. 

Energy vortexes are highly spiritual, as we have the ability to raise our own vibrations from them. Humans are a creation of energy, and when we surround ourselves with other powerful energy sources we are able to recognize this and feel deeply in-tune with the vibrations around us. These sacred places allow people to raise their vibrational frequencies, and feel a deeper connection to the Earth and Universe. Travelling to highly spiritual and energy-dense places can provide us with epiphanies of healing, clarity, and peace – and all beautiful things that may get muddled in our daily lives.
