A little peace and mindfulness may be exactly what we need in an atmosphere that is constantly hustling and bustling with creative endeavours, strategic ventures, and deadlines. Anxiety, exhaustion, and burnout are prevalent all throughout life… including in the Metaverse and Web3. So why not offer the support of wellness initiatives in this space too?
Let’s start with the basics though – what exactly is the Metaverse and Web3, and why would we need wellness practices in a seemingly non-physical space?
As you may know, the Metaverse is not a concrete reality. The Metaverse is really, at the moment, a shorthand for virtual worlds, where users can interact with each other and engage with apps and services in a far more immersive way. The vision is a 3D world where we spend time socializing, working, entertaining, and learning. It is the combination of virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), gaming, new age social media and so much more.
For a more in depth explanation on wellness in the Metaverse, check out our blog post on EsVedraVerse. We dive into the topic of recognizing that technology can be there to support us in our wellness practices. We are building a system that aids you in expanding your consciousness – our mission is to bring together a band of spiritual leaders, wellness experts, yoga practitioners, sound healers, and mindfulness coaches to virtually elevate humanity’s collective consciousness on all platforms.
Wellness in the Metaverse creates a community of collectors and creators who need a little break from (virtual) reality. It offers shared experiences that promote connection, kindness, and empowerment. It is a place that all are welcome, old and new users of virtual reality alike who are looking for some rest from the craziness of getting caught up in the Metaverse. Especially if we begin to spend all of our time in this virtual reality – people are going to want to shop, earn money, and establish businesses ventures there. This is how the Metaverse is connected to Web3.
So we’ve covered a bit of the basis of the Metaverse. Now… what the heck is Web3??
While that term may just want to go in one ear and right out the other, put simply, Web3 is the decentralized internet. You may have thought the two terms were interchangeable, but far from it! Unlike the Metaverse, Web3 enables ownership economy. It is founded on distributed technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO), rather than centralized on servers owned by individuals or corporations (such as the Metaverse). Web3 is a concept for the next generation of the internet. It is the evolution of how people are able to control and own their creations and online content, digital assets, and online identities.
You may be thinking, why is it called Web3? Well, because this will be the third major evolution of the internet, after the worldwide web (Web1) and the user-generated social media web (Web2).
Web 1.o –> read only (desktop, search, E-commerce, centralized)
Web 2.0 –> read/write (mobile, social, cloud, centralized)
Web 3.0 –> read/write/own (all tokens are decentralized)
This is a lot to take in, we know! But if you take away one thing, think that the goal of Web3 is to create a more democratized internet. This means that people will be able to own the things they put out on the internet – instead of a single entity being able to control the flow of information, and having the ability to “pull the plug” and kill a network essentially at any given time due to the fact that private corporations own the hardware.
While we won’t get too technical, let’s clarify some terms you likely have heard before! Web3 consists of these “storage units” that act as a backbone for the web – this is the blockchain. It is like the infostructure engine that powers Web3, cryptocurrencies, and NFTs. It allows you to own your digital identity. Blockchain stores the transactions of cryptocurrencies so they are available for anyone to see… which leads us into NFTs.

Now what on earth is an NFT?
There is a lot of lingo and acronyms to wrap your head around in the Web3 space, but NFT is one to remember. It stands for non-fungible token. This essentially means that each NFT is unique and can’t be traded for one another. It’s a digital asset that has value because it was created on the blockchain, so anyone can see that it’s 100% unique and authentic.
So how does the Metaverse and Web3 come together?
The technology that’s used to build Web3 – which includes blockchain, and blockchain-based cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, and NFTs – all have huge implications for the way we will make use of the virtual worlds of the Metaverse for work, play, socializing and learning. They are connected because cryptocurrencies could form the foundations of economic and monetary systems in the Metaverse.
While they do differ – the Metaverse is a space that centers on how users will experience the internet of the future, while Web3 supports a decentralized web promoting ownership, it could serve as the basis for connectivity in the Metaverse. The creator economy in the Metaverse also promotes the vision of Web3 by developing a whole new financial world with the implementation of decentralized solutions.
FINALLY, how does wellness play a bigger picture in the Metaverse and Web3?
Well, if you’ve stuck around this long, you can see why it’d be a good idea to have a space to take a breather! The virtual world is a lot to process and take in all at once, and it can get pretty overwhelming. Which is why we are welcoming a space and community for wellness in the Metaverse, along with NFT collectors and creators who need a little break from all of this commotion!
SO… what might this look like exactly?
Wellness in the Metaverse and in Web3 would be like stepping into a virtual oasis that helps you establish your mind body connection. It would bring peace amidst the chaos of AR and VR by establishing immersive wellness practices from anywhere in the world.
It offers shared experiences that promote connection in a space that can appear vast and lonely. Creating a room for wellness would foster kindness and empowerment in a place that all are welcome, old and new users of virtual reality alike. It would be for anyone who is looking for some tranquility and to escape burnout.
With all of the excitement around the Metaverse and Web3, introducing a wellness-inspired platform in this space allows for us to stay grounded and connected to our roots while experiencing the greatest evolution of technology as we know it today.
